In his New Year statement on Tuesday, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV prayed that “truth will prevail” in the country as he urged Filipinos to unite in the year 2019.
“Sa pagbubukas ng bagong taon, dalangin ko na biyayaan tayo ng Maykapal ng pagkakaisa at nawa’y manaig ang katotohanan sa ating bayan tungo sa mas maliwanag nating kinabukasan,” Trillanes said.
“Isang Manigong Bagong Taon po sa inyong lahat!” he added.
Before 2018 ended, the opposition senator dismissed as implausible the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey that showed that more adult Filipinos were satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon at sa kaliwa’t kanang kapalpakan ni Duterte ay walang maniniwala sa SWS (Social Weather Stations) survey na 7 out of 10 Filipinos ay masaya sa pamamahala nito,” Trillanes said in a statement.
“Either may sampling errors ito o di kaya ay ang mga nagsabi nito ay nakakaramdam ng takot,” he claimed on December 29.
Trillanes, also, said the “true” sentiments of the people toward the Duterte administration will be bared in the May, 2019 polls.
“Regardless, the true sentiments of the Filipino people will be known in next year’s mid-term elections,” Trillanes had said.
